Abstract:

Stephan reported into the CTO to lead the Data team to rebuild the Nintex Hawkeye product to make it accurate and scalable. This led to a significant increase in customer adoption.

Situation

Stephan managed a Team of Developers, Testers and UX to rebuild Nintex Hawkeye, a SaaS Big Data product. It is used 24x7 by hundreds of enterprise customers globally for strategic business decisions.


Tasks

Reporting into the CTO, Stephan was accountable for technical delivery, a $600K budget, executive stakeholder reporting and long-term strategic planning.


Actions

His first action was to improve the team’s discipline to follow process. As a result, the team was able to become more productive and reduce waste. The improved transparency also highlighted under performance and behavioural issues of some of the team members. Stakeholder management was improved by providing regular showcases and formal status updates on key performance indicators.

Nintex is a Microsoft platinum partner and therefore has direct access into the Microsoft Teams. After sorting the legal, we were able to use Alpha datalake features to prepare us for the future, including AI models.


Results

The product was rebuilt and performance was improved from 18 hour ingestion to 18 minutes.

Under Stephan’s leadership, the customer base has grown 200%, the rate of delivery almost doubled and regression testing went down from 4 weeks manual testing by the whole team to extensive overnight automated testing and only a 1-week regression period by only the testers. Outage during deployments has been removed and are now scheduled during business hours.
